New Harbour Record at Weymouth |

A new harbour record has been set by Anders Bringdal with a speed of 38.48 knots and the majority of competitors on the course today exceeded 30 knots. Wind speeds reached 30 -35 knots plus gusts.
The Race-Trax GPS timing system was trialled in the extreme conditions and appeared to perform excellently - more details later when time permits.
The results are available here some additional runs will become available and a full listing of names added. Unfortunately a number of sail numbers were not legible.

The fight for the european champion title is still open between Antoine Albeau (FRA, Starboard) and Bjorn Dunkerbeck (SUI, Proof, North Sails). They are tied in points, but Antoine leads due to the better top speed of the competition. In the womens fleet Valerie Ghibaudo (FRA, Loft Sails) is already through, with five bullets in five races.
One more round was completed today in relatively light winds, leaving the decision about the title open to the final two days of the competition.

No wind today for racing, the timing was opened around noon for some test runs and to allow the riders to tune their equipment. After a long waiting period with the AP flag up the riders were released at 16:15, with a good forecast for tomorrow morning.

Thierry Bielak was holding the windsurfers 500m record from 1991-2004.
Yesterday the Lüderitz Speed Challenge saw Sebastien Cattelan of France become the first human being to sail at more than 50 knots (93kph) – a world record he held for only 24 hours before compatriot Alexandre Caizergues snatched it away with not one but three runs over 50 knots – reaching a top speed of 50.57 knots (93.65kph).
