drivenbywind.jpgThe opening week of Driven by Wind is over and was blessed with 35 to 40 knots of wind on the 2nd day which allowed Finian Maynard on his first visit to the Ray at Southend to set a blistering 44.32 knot run. Even more amazing it was only 0.4 of a knot off the new production record.

The chase for the magical 50 knots barrier is still on, with the latest results at the channel and some speeds seriously scratching ath the 48 knots mark. The contest on The Ray (drivenbywind) will start on the 15th of January, and also Hydropthere is ready to get another shot at the record mark.

mos.jpgThe first 2008 session of the Masters of Speed brought some really big speeds close to 48 knots, putting Antoine Albeau (FRA) in all time thrid position with a stunning 47.69 knots subject to WSSRC ratification. All the other riders did also very well, including 16 year old Thomas Gaudiot, setting the mark rof U17 to 42.71 knots.The event is live covered by http://www.windsurfjournal.com/ and continues today, Friday, with possibly even better speeds.
