wssrc.jpgThe WSSR Council announces an amendment to WSSR Rule 3.

3rd paragraph is amended as follows:

"For every record attempt on natural courses in every class, there must be a minimum depth of water, which is defined as follows.

At the time of the run in question, the shallowest part of the course must be covered by water with a depth of at least half the static immersed beam of the craft involved, or 10cm, whichever is the greater.

logo_iswc_120x32.jpgThe ISWC world rankings have been updated after the Euopean Championship 2008 in Karpathos, Greece. In the mens division, Cyril Moussilmani (FRA, Fanatic, North) is still leading due to his victory at the French Cup he has the deciding extra points to keep him ahead of his opponents. Ben van der Steen (NED), who also won a Grade C even in spring is in second now, followed by world champion Antoine Albeau (FRA, Starboard) and European Champion Bjorn Dunkerbeck (SUI, Proof, North). Cedric Bordes (FRA) is completing the top 5.

ISWC Speed Windsurfing European Championship Karpathos 2008: Final Report PDF Print E-mail

Bjorn Dunkerbeck (SUI, Proof, North Sails) and Valerie Ghibaudo (FRA, Loft Sails) are the European Champions of Speed Windsurfing 2008 !

In a thrilling final gold fleet race Bjorn Dunkerbeck defeated Antoine Albeau (FRA, Starboard) who was leading the competition until that final race. Both were tied in points, with the tie broken in favour of Antoine Albeau by the top speed of the season (43.68 knots), a new spot record as well.

The fight for the european champion title is still open between Antoine Albeau (FRA, Starboard) and Bjorn Dunkerbeck (SUI, Proof, North Sails). They are tied in points, but Antoine leads due to the better top speed of the competition. In the womens fleet Valerie Ghibaudo (FRA, Loft Sails) is already through, with five bullets in five races.

One more round was completed today in relatively light winds, leaving the decision about the title open to the final two days of the competition.

No wind today for racing, the timing was opened around noon for some test runs and to allow the riders to tune their equipment. After a long waiting period with the AP flag up the riders were released at 16:15, with a good forecast for tomorrow morning.

What a day ! 3 complete rounds with two fleets today, with a new seasons top speed set by Antoine Albeau (FRA, Starboard)with 43.68 knots. He is leading the the competition now as well as Valerie Ghibaudo (FRA, Loft Sails) in the womens fleet.
