Information is out that Hydroptere has set new marks on both nautical mile and 500m.

48.7 knots over one nautical mile and 51.36 knots over 500m are the speeds to beat now, all subject to WSSRC ratification.

Congratulations go out from us to Alain Thebault and his crew for this huge achievment. You guys worked hard for it and really deserved it.

 
Red Bull supports European Championships in Dungarvan PDF Print E-mail

Red Bull has just confirmed to support the European Championships for both Windsurfers and Kiteboarders held in Dungarvan, Ireland in October.

With 10000 Euro price money on the line this will be the next major event for the world wide speedsurfing scene, and everybody not registered yet is reminded to do so as fast as possible to ensure a starting slot.

We are happy to announce that the European Championships for both Windsurfers and Kiteboarders are confirmed now and registration is open. The event will be held in Dungarvan, Ireland, from 17.10.2009 till 23.10.2009 with a rollover chance if there is no wind during the first slot.

Please note, that in order to confirm your registration for the event you need to make payment of the entry fee immediately after registering. Due to organizational problems the events in Walvis Bay, Namibia, are postponed to a later period in the year. We are still working on getting them realized but we are definately too late now for September.

kaprapthosworlds09.jpgA spectacular event came to an end today with the price giving held directly at the beach in front of the Pro Center Chris Schill. Finian Maynard (BVI) and Valerie Ghibaudo (FRA, Loft Sails) are the world champions 2009.

After 7 rounds of speedsailing action, giving two discards for the fleet from all over the world, Karpathos proved another time to be the perfect venue for high wind windsurfing.

Another bullet for Finian Maynard (BVI) at the 2009 ISWC worlds. He is leading the competition now with a perfect score of 3.5 points after seven races and 2 discards ahead of Antoine Albeau (FRA) with 9.7 points and Anders Bringdal (SWE) with 14 points.

In the womens fleet, Valerie Ghibaudo (FRA, Loft Sails) scored her 8th consecutive victory in this competition and has won the title already before the final day of the competition. Marion Raisi (FRA) is in second with 10 points and Marie-Paule Geldhof (BEL) in third with 16 points.
