French Cup 2008: Final Report PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 28 March 2008
psl_jochen.jpgIt was a good week for the first French Cup for Speed Windsurfing, held from 22.03.-28.03. in Port St. Louis du Rhone.

Cyril Moussilmani (Fanatic, North) won the event after 6 rounds, of which 5 were validated by the rules. The womens fleet was clearly dominated by Valerie Ghibaudo (Loft Sails).

The event started windy from the first day, the race committee around organizer Jochen Krauth, former world champion, was on spot from the first minute. Due to the weather conditions, the riders were only send out for two rounds a day, temperatures below 10 degree did not allow for more.

Although, the first heats were dominated by Cedric Bordes  and Fabien Pendle, but after the first discard Cyril took the lead and defended it with two bullets on the last windy day of the competition. Fabien ended up second, and Cedric Bordes in third.

psl_top3women.jpgThe top speed of more than 38 knots proved, that Plage Napoleon can be good for more, when the wind becomes stronger.

Valerie Ghibaudo was not to beat in this week, with five out of five first places the reigning world champion is too dominant at the moment. Only one race was won by Marion Raisi, but as it does not met the validation rules it did not influence the ranking.

The 54 registered competitors enjoyed the week, and we hope to come back with a worldcup to France next season.

Full results are available in the Events -> Results section.
