Biography
Started sailing at age four on Mirrors and moved onto competitive dinghy sailing in Optimists, Lasers, Fireballs and 505's.  In 1983 was talked into buying a half-share in a Ten Cate Hunter by my Dad - this turned out to be a great move!   I found the simplicity, freedom and speed that boardsailing offered really appealing.  Spent a number of years sailing some pretty remote spots in southern Namibia with a really good bunch of friends - memories that will stay with me forever.  Got into the speed sailing scene in 1989 on a Sailboards Maui slalom board in Walvis Bay, Namibia.  The speed bug really bit and since then I've spent many days having fun on the Walvis strip and any stretch of flat water that I've been able to find.  Moved to Saldanha on the west coast of South Africa in 2002 and am fortunate to live within 100 metres of Saldanha Bay (just north of Langebaan).  Saldanha's a great sailing spot - good clean wind and lots of open water to have fun.

Best Results :
First person to break 40 knots over 500 metres in Africa at the Walvis Bay speed strip in 1996.
Overall winner of the Walvis Bay speed week - 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003.
Managed to convince Bjorn Dunkerbeck to join us for the Walvis Bay speedweek in Namibia in 2004.  Bjorn's personal best run during this event helped to establish the Walvis speedstrip as one of THE hotspots in the speed sailing world.
