Biography
Philip Adamidis was born in Athens Greece. He began windsurfing in 1980 at the age of 14 and only two years later became men’s Div II champion. Still only 16 years old and inexperienced, he finished 21st in European men Div II championship in Neuseedler See Austria. In 1983 the first Funboard races took place in Greece and ever since he got hooked. Being a good overall sailor, he attracted some international interest and was offered a place in the International  F2 team getting the chance to sail in the best locations around the world including Canary Islands, South Africa, Australia and Hawai. In the 1986 annual PWA ranking, he finished 28th in Waves, 33rd in Slalom and 41st in Course Racing. In National level, he managed to win every single race he took part in, resulting in an impressive track record of being consecutive Greek champion from 1983 until the early 90’s when he somehow retired to seek a professional career.
Even as a casual competitor after his “unofficial” retirement, he always scored high among the top Greek participants in all PWA events held in Paros and Rhodes between the years 1993-2000. 1998 was a landmark in his career where he teamed up with PWA Racing Champion Micah Buzianis and Jean Mark Fantis to form the Greek team that took part in the 1998 TAWR (Trans Atlantic Windsurf Race) finishing 2nd.
After 7 years of “hibernation” came the time for a full comeback but this time in SpeedSailing. Although 2007 was his rookie year in this discipline, he took part in all three ISA Tour events finishing 5th overall and becoming Vice World Champion in the production category. Also, he broke the 500m National Record for Greece with a speed of 40,85 knots.
